Around the World with Gummibär: Mount of Olives in Israel!

israelmountofolives

There are so many wonderful places to explore in Israel for Around the World with Gummibär this week!!! Here are some super pretty trees on the side of Mount of Olives!

The name “Mount of Olives”, “Mount of Olives” comes from the olive trees that for thousands of years have grown on the slopes of the Mount.  In the Jewish tradition it is also known as the “Mount of Unction”, since the oil made from its olives was used to anoint the king and the high priests. At the top of Mount of Olives, visitors can enjoy a perfect view of Jerusalem, as it can be observed in its entirety from above. Mount of Olives is located to the east of Jerusalem, and separates Jerusalem from the Judean Desert. Mount of Olives also leads to the Dead Sea. The Kidron Valley, which surrounds Jerusalem to the east, separates the Mount of Olives from Jerusalem and from the nearby Mount Zion, located further to the south, from where Jesus set off on foot after the Last Supper, crossing the Valley to reach Gethsemane.
